What a week we're in for...

This will be a very busy news week. That’s because M365 Community Conference is taking place, and it’s one of the biggest conferences of the year. Microsoft product teams will be there to make a lot of announcements. There’ll also likely be a flood of new roadmap items coming out this week timed with the announcements. I don’t think there’s any virtual sessions (watching from home), but maybe we’ll be surprised?

One session in particular is what I want to point out. This session will be detailing the future of sharing. This will be BIG, and my usual Monday video will be delayed, and will cover this news instead. I’ll pay attention to when the news goes public so I can hit the “publish” button on it. Trust me, you want to be ready for what’s coming. 😉

In other news, I’ll be migrating to a different newsletter platform soon, so if you notice any differences in the next month, don’t worry!

Make sure to forward this email to a friend who needs to stay up to date as well!

ROADMAP
SharePoint: Optical Character Recognition (OCR) Backfill for SharePoint Sites

Typically, when you turn on SharePoint Premium features for a site, it only applies to new content or content you manually activate it on. This update to OCR will let you retroactively apply OCR to existing content. Hopefully this will come to other SP Premium features next. This begins rolling out in June. Link to roadmap

SharePoint: Time to read on SharePoint News posts

You know how some blog posts have that “time to read” section at the top to let you know how long it is? That’s coming to SharePoint news posts! Very cool feature that authors will love. This is rolling out this month! Link to roadmap

SharePoint: Create multi-color themes for SharePoint in brand center

We're bringing a new theme creation experience into brand center that supports multiple colors, allowing you to easily create and manage multi-color themes for your sites and related experiences. This will begin rollout this month. Link to roadmap

SharePoint: SharePoint Agents in Teams Channels

SharePoint agents can be used in a Teams Channel similar to how they can be used in a Teams Group Chat. This will begin rolling out in July. Link to roadmap

SharePoint: Introducing archival and other enforcement actions with inactive site lifecycle management policy

Address inactive content on your tenant with inactive sites policy. Admins can configure policies to Detect inactive sites, send notifications to all site owners, and archive these sites or put them in a read-only state if there is no action from notification recipients. This will be rolling out in November. Link to roadmap

Is Copilot Search the Future of Microsoft Search?

I’m seeing a big shift in how Microsoft wants users to find content. What this means for the future could be very impactful.

Recent course review:

I watch all of Steve's content on YouTube which is where I started my journey with SharePoint List formatting. I have wanted to do this course for months to gain a deeper understanding and I finally made the time!

I'm not a developer, I have zero developer skills, and I found this course to be clear and concise. I'm now feeling more confident to practice and just start creating, using all the tools I have gained in my JSON List formatting toolbox.”
