We're in for a BIG treat this month.

This month is going to be busy. Many things are rolling out to SharePoint, and there’s a lot to learn in time to be able to support your environment and users. The authoring Copilot is one of the top ones to look out for, but not as much as the flexible sections. A LOT of pages will be changed as users discover these features as users experiment with how Copilot can transform their existing content in addition to creating new pages. Flexible sections will challenge how they currently design pages. The rules we’ve been used to with modern page design can now be broken, and that’s a good thing. Site pages will have the ability to look amazing, and hopefully that matches your lists and library formatting!
Accessible will be easier to achieve, and that’ll be great for government tenants and others that have regulatory requirements (ADA, etc..) that dictate how their content accommodates impaired users.
As Copilot takes a much greater role in SharePoint, either in the editing or viewer experience, content structure and metadata will play a MUCH greater role. Having the metadata columns set up correctly to properly classify content becomes critical. You want Copilot to have as much information as possible in order to use the correct documents, and not the outdated/obsolete/irrelevant ones. Start making plans to address that ASAP this year and save a lot of time and headaches.

ROADMAP
SharePoint: Authoring Copilot in SharePoint
The first Copilot for SharePoint is rolling out this month… FINALLY! This one will let you create engaging site pages, using built-in templates or custom templates from your organization. It also can be grounded on existing documents to generate content on your pages. Very exciting stuff, and the delay since its initial announcement hopefully means this is going to be a major update. SharePoint: Preview for Pages and News
This feature will be a favorite for organizations that have mobile and tablet users. This will update the editing interface so you can see how a site page will look on other devices. This is rolling out this month! Link to roadmap
SharePoint: Flexible Layouts
My (early) pick for the best feature in 2025, this feature will let you position elements within a section with great accuracy. Think “Canva for SharePoint”. Yes, it’s that big of a deal, and will likely result in organizations revamping their intranet to use this feature. This is rolling out THIS MONTH! Link to roadmap
SharePoint: Pages authoring accessibility checker
The accessibility checker has begun rolling out. This will help ensure your pages meet ADA and other standards. Perfect timing, since this is rolling out close to the time flexible layouts and the Preview mode for the page editing experience. Link to roadmap
SharePoint: Editorial Card web part in SharePoint Pages and News
I’m hoping you didn’t miss this video of mine, since it practically BLEW UP! This new web part will make it much easier to make content stand out on your site pages. It looks incredible, and it’s rolling out now! Link to roadmap
SharePoint: Microsoft Lists - Conditional branching in Microsoft Lists forms
Lists forms are getting a big upgrade. Conditional branching will allow you to create more complex forms right inside Microsoft Lists. This will make for a more seamless experience and I think people will love it. Link to roadmap
