This year will be big for SharePoint...

🤖 AI + SharePoint. I’m seeing a very strong push this year for leveraging AI within SharePoint. Technically it’s not a new concept. We’ve had it for a while in the form of SharePoint Premium, but there’s finally an effort to market the benefits to the public. Back in January, Microsoft showed off Autofill as well as new features never before seen for Autofill. They also showed off other SharePoint Premium features. I think we’ll see a very strong push for SharePoint Premium products, but maybe without that exact name. I think they’ll simply refer to them as “SharePoint features,” since customers possibly didn’t react well to the “Premium” label. In any case, This year, I expect to see a LOT of content and marketing efforts promoting AI-based features for SharePoint. They’re designed to save a lot of time for users and are certainly worth exploring.

👀 I also think that search will be a big focus this year as well. Copilot has made finding content in a sea of documents easy, but it’s a generic sort of way. It still requires decent prompting skills. The thing is, it won’t replace search-based solutions designed to find content with a point-and-click style interface, or a search + click style. The free PnP Modern Search web parts are still going very strong, and I’ve been using it as a replacement for the out-of-the-box lists web parts for years. It’s levelled up my work immensely with how customizable it is. If you haven’t looked into it before, you definitely should!

👇 Below you’ll find a poll that I’d love your feedback on. I’m looking to offer live training on a number of topics, including my popular course topics like JSON Formatting, PnP Modern Search (soon to get a People Directory Masterclass!), and SharePoint Lists. I’d love your feedback on your learning preference in general! It takes one click, and I look forward to your feedback 😊

This blog post by Microsoft goes into detail about the pay-as-you-go billing model for SharePoint agents, for organizations that aren’t using M365 Copilot or don’t have licenses assigned to all users. It also discusses the promo where organizations get 10,000 free interactions for non-licensed users depending on how many M365 licenses they have.
