Something exciting is happening...

There’s a really interesting online event happening this week. You’ll see the details below in the Announcements section. It’s going to cover a lot of the latest SharePoint announcements, but I have a feeling some new announcements will be a part of it. I think this will be well worth your time.
If you’re in the Miami, Florida area, I’ll be speaking at Microsoft 365 Community Day Miami, covering several of the coolest SharePoint Premium features. The event happens on Feb 6-7th. It should be a TON of fun, and it’s 100% free! Hopefully I’ll see you there!
We’ve seen a lot of features coming to SharePoint over the last 12+ months which are aimed at improving the page editing and viewing experience. We’ve still got flexible sections coming, which will have the largest impact of any of these features. What I’m starting to see now is an increase of features targeting list and libraries.
Now that SharePoint pages are in a better spot, focus is returning to the data, empowering users to more easily add advanced functionality without requiring knowledge of tools like Power Automate. This is going to be very popular for users that either discover these features or receive training materials to raise awareness.
One thing still remains, and I see it across all of my customers. The Lists and libraries I see being created are terrible! Most of the time, not even the right column types are being used. Then, customers ask why certain features aren’t working, or they complain that SharePoint “just can’t handle their data”. Sound familiar?
They couldn’t be more wrong, though.
Did you know that SharePoint Online can actually handle up to 30 MILLION files per library, and just as many items per list? That’s a LOT. Imagine having just 1 million items and trying to sort through them. Sound difficult? Not if you set it up correctly the first time!
My latest online course will teach you how to use and create lists in SharePoint the right way. From how to navigate them, where all the major components are (since Microsoft keeps moving them!), to creating lists several different ways, you’ll learn how to do this the right way, making your job easier and stress free.
You’ll learn all about the different column types, and more importantly, why you use certain column types instead of others. The strengths and weaknesses of column types will determine how easy your list can aggregate and filter data.
You’ll also learn about all those different kinds of views, and when you’d want to use them. That makes is easy for your users to use as well, which means less support calls you have to deal with.
Take a look. It’s designed to benefit everyone, and I’ve already heard from students who’ve used SharePoint for years and never knew some of the things I cover in the course!

SharePoint: Preview for Pages and News

Note: This has disappeared from the roadmap since it appeared. It’s possible the above roadmap item will reappear by the time you read this.
SharePoint: Approvals integration in Document Libraries
Easy approvals for your document libraries! This feature will appear in the Automate dropdown and will leverage the Approvals app in Teams. This is rolling out now! Link to roadmap
