SharePoint Insights: Early Edition! 🤣

📰 Lots of agent news this week. I don’t know if you’ve been able to try out the new (Copilot) agents for SharePoint, but I’ve set these up quite a few times lately. It does take some tweaking to get the responses just the way you want, but it’s so nice! This week we’re seeing much better integration between agents for SharePoint and Teams. Microsoft is closing the gap between the agents you build in Teams versus the ones you build in SharePoint.

Both agents are designed to do the same thing, but the scopes are different, and certainly the visibility is different across M365. As Microsoft makes agents for SharePoint closer to the Teams version, I think they’re almost at the point where they can begin competing for your attention. Two different teams at Microsoft, trying to make the best agents possible. The real winner will be you, the customer.

Copilot Studio integration will be coming soon, I hope. I’d really like to see this whole “custom copilot” experience embedded within SharePoint. It will open the door to a LOT of innovation, especially when they can take action such as running approvals or possible managing content.

In other news, I’m running a flash sale this weekend. I’m offering 25% off ALL my SharePoint training courses. There’s never been a better time to invest in yourself this year to take your skills and career to the next level. I’ve had such positive feedback from students and really would love to you included in their success stories. Use code FEBFLASHSALE at checkout to take advantage of the final 24 hours of this sale!

Let’s get into the news! Make sure to forward this email to a friend who needs to stay up to date as well!

ROADMAP
SharePoint agents available in the Teams App Store

Soon you’ll be able to add your SharePoint agents to Teams much easier. It looks like you’ll be able to submit your agents for inclusion in your organization’s Teams app store. This will make it easier for departments to share their custom agents with all users. This will begin rolling out in March! Link to roadmap

SharePoint agents in Teams channels

Instead of only being able to add your custom SharePoint agents to chats, you’ll soon be able to add them to a channel. Great functionality that’s needed and will tie into the App Store functionality above! This will begin rolling out in March. Link to roadmap

Share a site’s built-in agent

Like the default agent that comes with your SharePoint site? You’ll be able to share this just like your custom ones in Teams. This will be rolling out beginning in March. Link to roadmap

Edit a site’s built-in agent

This makes the previous roadmap item above much more important. Previously, that default agent wasn’t editable. Soon, that limitation will be fixed. Customize that default agent and tweak it the way you want. This will begin rolling out in May! Link to roadmap
