More UI changes are coming to SharePoint

If you thought that the SharePoint UI refresh was done after flexible section came out, you’re wrong. The team at Microsoft is still cranking out UI updates. This week’s roadmap is full of them. One interesting thing to note is the header & footer update. Be on the lookout for this. If you have a custom header and/or footer, this could break it.
We’re about 1 week away from the M365 Community Conference. Major news usually drops during this event each year. Be on the lookout. I won’t be there in person, but I will be watching sessions online and paying close attention to when news drops.

ROADMAP
SharePoint: Header & Footer Enhancements
Microsoft is adding more features to the header and footer. In their words, it’s a “full visual upgrade of the SharePoint site header and footer. This upgrade delivers a more cohesive and contemporary look while offering new preset layouts and enhanced customization options.” This will begin rolling out in June. I expect to see them show this off sooner than later. Probably at the M365 Community Conference. Link to roadmap
SharePoint: Modern SharePoint Page Templates
The Modern SharePoint Page Templates feature introduces a new Template Gallery, providing users with a centralized hub to discover, preview, and select from over 50 modern out-of-the-box (OOB) templates and custom templates. It gives me “Fab 40” vibes, but hopefully they execute this much better. This is rolling out in June. Link to roadmap
SharePoint: Customize your sites with multi-color themes
Site owners will be able to apply multi-color themes to their sites. These themes can be offered by Microsoft, created by the brand manager in the brand center, or by the site owners themselves using the new Site branding feature. This will begin rolling out in May. Link to roadmap
SharePoint: Create multi-color themes for SharePoint in brand center
We're bringing a new theme creation experience into brand center that supports multiple colors, allowing you to easily create and manage multi-color themes for your sites and related experiences. This will be rolling out in May. Link to roadmap
SharePoint: Time to read on SharePoint News posts
We’ve seen this type of feature on internet blogs before. I always thought it was a cool feature. Now SharePoint news posts will get it. Even cooler! This will begin rollout out in May. Link to roadmap
