Microsoft renamed it to what??

Community Days Los Angeles was a BLAST! I met so many great people and reconnected with some I hadn’t seen in awhile. What a great time, and everyone learned a lot from the great speakers. I had a great time speaking at an event for the first time, and despite technical difficulties, we all had fun learning about SharePoint Premium.

Lots of news dropped this week. Click to Copilot was renamed Copilot Agent for SharePoint. I’m not thrilled about the new name, but most people seem to like it better based on the poll I posted in LinkedIn.

The summer lull is over and new features are hitting the roadmap at a fast pace. AI features in general are getting a lot of focus, which is why SharePoint Premium and Copilot-related news dominate the week. With that in mind, let’s just get straight into the roadmap updates. Make sure to forward this email to a friend who needs to stay up to date as well!

ROADMAP
SharePoint site content & policy comparison using AI

This is definitely going to be a popular feature. This will let you apply policies and settings to all sites matching a specified site. This could let you quickly increase security on many sites by using a known site with sensitive data. This will be in preview in October, followed by a rollout in November. Link to roadmap

Site access review from Sharing link reports in Data Access Governance

The site access review feature currently available in the “Content shared with Everyone Except External Users” report is coming to the Sharing links report. This site access review process looks really cool and will ease the burden of managing access across your tenant. This is rolling out in October. Link to roadmap

Auto-run Data Access Governance (DAG) reports

This is going to be very popular for those using SharePoint Premium’s DAG reports. Auto-schedule reports to run every 28 days! That saves having to go in and click the buttons to run the reports, then come back hoping they finished. You’ll even get a notification with the auto-run completes. This is rolling out in October. Microsoft Copilot (Microsoft 365): Ground prompts using SharePoint Sites

If you’re using Copilot for M365, you’ll be able to ground your prompts on a specific SharePoint sites. This comes at the same time as they announced Copilot Agents for SharePoint (aka Click to Copilot). I’m guessing that the framework they added for this feature supports both of those experiences. This is rolling out in November 2024. Link to roadmap

Enterprise Application Insights for SharePoint sites

Another powerful report is coming to SharePoint Advanced Management (part of SharePoint Premium). This new report will show you which sites can be accessed by 3rd-party apps in your tenant. It also shows the app’s permissions on the site and how many times it’s accessed the site. Important for visibility across your tenant and helping in efforts to lock down the environment. This is rolling out in November. Link to roadmap

Great blog post by Mark Kashman (MSFT) on creating site templates, and where the Look Book went!

Another post by Microsoft. This one is from Belle Podeanu, and covers the new start page. I wasn’t ever a fan of the old page, but I think I’ll be giving this one a shot!
