It's finally here... for some of you

You're about to get this feature if you don't already have it

Click to Copilot as well as Copilot for SharePoint are both in preview at the moment. Click to Copilot is only in private preview, for certain commercial customers, I believe. We should see these enter a broader rollout VERY SOON! I’m so excited about these, because I think they’ll transform how users interact with SharePoint as well as create content for SharePoint.

In other news, I’ve had a few people asking about Handlebar templates for PnP Modern Search. If you’re interested in learning how to create these custom templates, let me know! I haven’t covered this topic in detail before, but I’m all for covering things you want to learn! You’ll find a poll below to indicate your interest in it.

POLL

Last week, I asked you whether your organization is currently rolling out (any) Copilot. The results were interesting:

While many organizations are rolling it out, which coincides with my observations, many are not, for the same reason. It’s expensive!! Many organizations that are rolling it out are only doing small deployments to test in a few departments. For those who’re looking for a lower cost option and want it to be more of a chatbot than a productivity boost (like M365 Copilot), look into custom copilots. The licensing (Copilot Studio) is cheaper and you can use a free trial to see whether this would be good for you. I’ll be covering this more in the future on my channels, due to the impact Click-to-copilot will have on SharePoint. It’s also really fun 😊😊

If you're using PnP Modern Search web parts, are you currently using custom Handlebars templates?

ROADMAP
SharePoint: Updating all News Posts to "Made for Email”

The new "Made for Email" News templates were pretty popular! Microsoft is now rolling out a change that will make every news post you create "Made for Email" by default. Now, no matter how you create your new News Post, whether it is copying a previous post or using an existing template, you will have access to send that full distribution as an email. Authors will still have access to the full webpart library by selecting "all" webparts in the webpart picker but are defaulted into having additional sending functionality. I think this is a good change because it’s putting flexibility first. This is in preview this month, with a broad rollout beginning next month. Link to roadmap

SharePoint: Copilot in SharePoint

Copilot in SharePoint is FINALLY being rolled out… in preview. I’m not sure if it’s private or public preview, so check your tenants. As a reminder, this Copilot is the one in the page editor experience. It’s designed to help you author pages and create rich content. This was originally announced last year, so it’s the first of the two Copilots we’re getting in SharePoint (Click-to-Copilot is the other one). Copilot in SharePoint is in preview this month, with a rollout beginning next month. Link to roadmap

SharePoint: Microsoft Lists - Drag to order list items

The MS Lists experience in SharePoint is getting drag and drop list item sorting? This one is subtle but could have a big impact on the future. We’ve always sorted lists by metadata columns in the past. Granted, there’s definitely some metadata behind the scenes to “store” the sort order, but it’s still pretty cool! Lists (in general) have been getting some love lately, and it’s great to see. Link to roadmap

SharePoint: SharePoint Premium content AI Graph API in Beta

For those of you using SharePoint Premium (highly recommended) to automate various data processing tasks, APIs are rolling out so you can apply/remove the document processing features on libraries. This will be great for using PowerShell or custom applications to automate the deployment of libraries with SharePoint Premium features, and I expect more APIs to keep being released to promote SP Premium. Introducing Coauthoring for SharePoint Pages and News

One of the biggest and best quality-of-life features to ever hit the SharePoint authoring experience. Multiple people can edit the same page at the same time. It’ll be great for training site owners, and over-the-shoulder troubleshooting. This is a BIG win for us. Link to news
