There is definitely more to come for this SharePoint feature

As we go into the end of the year, and get closer to Microsoft Ignite, expect to hear more news about SharePoint. We definitely will hear more about the flexible sections coming next year. There may be a surprise or two in store before then.

You should have the new content pane in SharePoint by now. Give it a try! I imagine more feature will continue to come to that, so the sooner you get familiar with it, the better!

ROADMAP
Introducing archival and other enforcement actions with inactive site lifecycle management policy

The inactive sites policy just got more useful. Starting in September 2024, you’ll have the ability to take action against sites that are inactive and no reponse is received from the site owner. Archive them or make them read only. Very nice feature! We’re starting to get proper governance controls in SharePoint. Link to roadmap

New enhancements to Restricted access control using Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Entra security groups

If you’re using RAC (restricted access control) to limit who can have access to a SharePoint site, you’ll like this feature. You’ll soon have the ability to see the impact that RAC is having in your organization. Additionally, site owners will be able to see that RAC is in effect on their site. Additional options will also be added to configure the policies, so I’ll be interested to see what those options are! This feature is rolling out now. Link to roadmap

Daily News for Curious Minds

“I stopped watching the news, so sick of the bias. Was searching for an alternative that would just tell me WHAT happened, with NO editorializing. I found it. It’s called 1440. It assumes you are smart enough to form your own opinions.”

The SharePoint team put out a blog post about the new design ideas in the (also new) content pane. If you haven’t checked it out yet, this post will catch you up on what this thing does
