Guess what's coming to SharePoint?

I’ve noticed a lot of integration announcements between Viva products and other products. This week we’ve got news that Viva Connections will be available from the App Bar in SharePoint.

I’m fairly certain that customer awareness of the Viva suite plays a big part in this. As a result, Viva is going to be more visible (and in some cases included) with other products like Copilot and SharePoint. This is likely to raise awareness and make customers think “Hmmm what is this Viva thing”. This will be a big win in the end for customers that do begin to adopt Viva applications, which bring much needed engagement from users.

I think a big theme this year will be more Viva-SharePoint integration. Not everyone lives inside SharePoint all day. Most of us go there to do work, or to stay up to date with news on the intranet. On the other hand, we do live in Teams, or at least most of us do. Having that relevant organizational content in Teams is really what Viva Connections is about, and it’s actually free. Many customers I’ve talked to haven’t heard of it. Have you used it? I think it’s worth a try. It does take some setting up, but I feel it’s a really nice complement to a SharePoint intranet.

Make sure to forward this email to a friend who needs to stay up to date as well!

ROADMAP
SharePoint: Pages - Author inline comments

This feature has gotten pushed back several times, and the current ETA is June 2025 for a preview release, followed by July 2025 for the GA rollout. This will allow authors (or maybe end-users?) to add comments in the body of page, instead of just at the bottom. Link to roadmap

Microsoft Viva: Connections on the SharePoint app bar

It’s been a while since the app bar got an update, but soon Viva Connections will have a button there! This will allow users to quickly navigate to Connections to get relevant updates. This is rolling out this month! Link to roadmap

I’ve had some conversations with customers lately about this feature. It’s definitely gaining interest when it comes to cleaning up and organizing image assets.
