Copilot Agents for SharePoint released!

I just got back from a well needed vacation, and as soon as I checked my commercial tenant, I saw that Copilot Agents were released! This is the product previously called Click-to-Copilot. It’s essentially adding custom copilots directly inside SharePoint sites, although these are a simplified version. You will be able to do advanced customization inside Copilot Studio, but that’s not out yet. I’ve actually just recorded a long video where I talk about and demo how all this works. It’ll be released tomorrow (Monday) so look for that and share with colleagues!

It’s going to change how users find information in SharePoint in my opinion. People are used to keyword-based searching, but it’s been very dependent on metadata fields being used to find your files. This changes things a lot, and I see this being quickly adopted by organizations. Imagine being able to ask a chatbot about your insurance benefits instead of looking through PDFs and pages to find what you need. Imagine new employees having an onboarding chatbot to answer their many questions about company culture, processes, and even holiday schedules.

I created a new playlist just for Copilot Agents on my YouTube channel, because there’s so many features inside this new Copilot Agent product, and much more will come. I think showcasing some of the use cases will be very beneficial for everyone interested in this.

On to other thoughts. As I’ve mentioned before, the pricing model will be changing very soon for my online courses, and lifetime access will be going away. I’ve got very big plans in the works and those who have lifetime access will be really glad they did. If you want to lock that in before it’s gone, I recommend you do it soon! 😉

Well, let’s get into the news! Make sure to forward this email to a friend who needs to stay up to date as well!

ROADMAP
Optical Character Recognition now supports hybrid PDFs (text and image)

OCR now supports PDFs that have both text and images. This feature just finished rolling out to the Standard World-wide cloud. You’ll have to wait longer if you’re on other clouds like GCC/DOD/etc.. Link to roadmap

SharePoint Premium - Simple Document Processing Model

Another model is coming to SharePoint Premium’s document processing capabilities. This will detect the primary language of the file, key-value pairs, tables, selection marks, and barcodes. It’ll also extract those into individual metadata columns, like the other models do. This looks really promising and will begin rolling out this month! Link to roadmap

Microsoft Lists - Drag to order list items

While it’s not quite the same as SharePoint, you and I both know that Lists is just another interface for SharePoint, right?? This was announced previously, but this just finished rolling out to all clouds, so even GCC tenants will have this available. Link to roadmap
